EmbodyMe is released on Steam and Oculus Store.
EmbodyMe is a free app that lets you automatically create a 3D model that looks exactly like you from just a single photo of your face and communicate with people in various ways as if you were really talking to them in person. (URL:https://embodyme.com/)

You are not limited to using your own image. With just one face photo, you can become any celebrity or friend, change your gender, and become whoever you want to be.
Your facial expressions and hand and body gestures are mirrored in real time in your VR avatar, creating a sense of presence as if you were really there.

You can not only engage in real communication in which users talk, shake hands, and punch each other while changing expressions, but can also enjoy communication not possible in reality, such as taking medicine to become ugly, flying through the sky with balloons, or being stuck with arrows.
Users can also take commemorative photos of your experiences with the people you meet, or take videos singing and dancing together, and share these on Facebook or Twitter.

Paneo.inc is established on June 2016, and raises to 90 million yen from Incubatefund.

– Aims of EmbodyMe
Video chat or TV meeting is only used when actually meeting is difficult, and there is a considerable gap between using video chat and talking face to face. Our creation EmbodyMe fills that gap, enabling the same experience as actually meeting others.
As actually meeting up entails both time and money, people’s lives change considerably when the need to meet up disappears.
It is our dream to achieve a world in which everyday actions – whether going a company to work, or heading to town to buy clothes, or going to school to study – can be replaced by EmbodyMe.

– Future development of EmbodyMe
We plan to develop a platform that lets EmbodyMe avatars be used with a variety of services and businesses.
For example, we hope to develop business-oriented services by which people can hold meetings remotely but with a sense of real presence.
As another example, buying clothes online entailed the problem that shoppers can not actually pick up and try on the clothes. If a shopper is able to do so using an EmbodyMe avatar, however, there is no need to go to a real store.

– Future aims of the app
Our ultimate aim is to become a complete replacement for video chat. We believe that when everyone has a VR or AR device, that switch will take place for all social media networks over which friends communicate.
However, VR is currently used only by gamers and other early adopters.
Given that, for our first product we will focus on enabling fun communication among people who meet for the first time.
We think that one merit of this will be the ability to experience in a VR space what would be impossible in reality, such as flying through the sky like Superman, taking some medicine to become ugly, or taking an arrow through the head.
We also believe that it is important to be able to share information and goings-on inside the VR world in real spaces.
We are adding such features in the VR space. For example, users will be able to take videos of singing, dancing, or performing comedy together, and share these over social media.
